expanded to 10 IBR, 10 MBR, and 10 home rules per player

Immutable Blanket Rules (IBR)

1. There is a Blanket Blog containing 10 Immutable Blanket Rules (IBR), 10 Mutable Blanket Rules (MBR), and a list of players, with links to blogs of those players. All players must follow all rules in the latest entry on the blanket blog at all times. IBR take precedence over MBR.

2. From time to time, the blanket blog will need to be updated. Any player may update the blanket blog by posting a new entry to the blanket blog, which will contain all the current IBR and MBR and information about what has changed in the blanket blog and why. This may only be done when specifically required by IBR or MBR, and at no other time. If no players update the blanket blog when required, and the need to update it in that way no longer exists, it is not updated. There is no punishment for such failure to update the blanket blog, and it is not considered an illegal action.

3. Anyone may play Blanket Nomic. Ey must first create a blog at blogger dot com and post an entry containing ten rules, numbered 1-10. These rules will be that player’s home rules, and the blog will be that player’s home blog. Every player must follow eir own most recently posted set of home rules, but need not follow the home rules of other players. Ey may change eir home rules at any time by posting a new entry with a new complete set of 10 rules. No other kinds of entries may be made to the home blog. All blanket rules take precedence over all home rules.

4. Once the new player has established a home blog and a set of 10 home rules, ey must contact any current player of Nomic with a link to eir home blog and a request to join. The contacted player must then update the blanket blog to include the new player and a link to eir home blog alphabetically in the sidebar (edit the “Template”) and add that player as a member of the blanket blog, thereby giving em access to the blanket blog. Once a player is listed on the blanket blog, ey must follow all of eir home rules, IBR, and MBR. Any player may quit Blanket Nomic by removing eir name from the blanket blog description, but ey will not be allowed to administer the blanket blog after doing so, except to rejoin.

5. When more than half of all players have exactly the same rule listed in the same slot (number 1-10) on their home blogs, that rule will be transferred to the corresponding slot on the MBR, replacing the rule currently in the slot.

6. When more than half of all players have the word SWAP (all caps) in the same slot on their home blogs, the corresponding IBR and MBR will swap places on the blanket blog. Thus, the MBR will become immutable, and the IBR will become mutable.

7. Rule slots may not be left empty, but they may contain the word CLEAR (all caps), which will mean that it is effectively empty. When more than half of all players have the word CLEAR in the same slot on their home blogs, the corresponding slot on the MBR will become CLEAR.

8. No player may delete or edit any entries on eir own blog or the blanket blog. Players must be truthful about the time that they update their blogs. These timestamps may be used to determine legality of actions.

9. All players start the game at level 1. The first player to reach or exceed level 10 wins Blanket Nomic. Player levels only change according the the IBR and MBR. A player’s levels will be recorded in the descriptions on eir home blog. Breaking a rule will cause reversal of illegal actions, if possible, and the offending player will go down one level. Players cannot go below level 1. The blanket blog may be updated to reflect reversal of illegal actions.

10. Anything not permitted by the rules is permissible.
